December 1 - 18, 2009

This holiday season the Central California Make-A-Wish Chapter celebrates 23 years of granting more than 1,200 wishes for Valley children. Please join us as we light up the hearts of Central California residents with the stories of local children who have experienced the magic of Make-A-Wish. Each day from December 1 through December 18, 2009, Peak Broadcasting will be filling the airwaves with inspirational wish stories, and asking for local companies and individuals to step forward and “Adopt-A-Wish”.  Every time a certain dollar threshold is met, the stars will be incrementally illuminated on the Palm Bluffs water tower.  Once lit in its entirety, the Tower will remain illuminated until January 6, 2010.

She and her family flew to Florida where they had the trip of a lifetime. She stayed at Give Kids The World and enjoyed all that the theme parks had to offer. The highlight of her trip was the amazing princess story book dining experience at the Akershus Royal Banquet Hall. Ylaria’s mother says, “Our trip was so much more than a dream vacation–it was a perfect week-long fantasy experience away from hospitals, needles, treatments, procedures, and beeping machines. It was a completely uninterrupted solid family time where worry and fear were gone and only bliss and sheer pleasure remained.”

This past year’s event was a huge success!  We were able to provide our guests with a great evening of gourmet food, silent and live auctions, and world class entertainment by Wayne Foster Entertainment. KBAKTV/FOX 58 provided us with two excellent anchors, Lisa Krych and Kurt Rivera, and they will be participating again in 2010 as our media partners. Wayne Foster Enteretainment will also be returning, and Grimmway Farms is onve again our presenting sponsor. If you missed the fun this year, don’t get left behind next year!

Businesses as well as individuals can participate as sponsors by busying a table (please see Evening of Wishes Brochure), or they can donate items for the silent or live auctions. Allergan became a sponsor of the Make-A-Wish Foundation® in Spring 2009 promoting the launch of LATISSE™ Wishes, a charitable public awareness campaign to help make wishes come true. The LATISSE™ Wishes campaign was born out of the tradition of blowing on an eyelash to make wishes come true and leverages the excitement surrounding the availability of Allergan’s LATISSE™ (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution) 0.03%, the first and only science-based prescription treatment approved by the FDA for hypotrichosis of the eyelashes (inadequate or not enough lashes) that is used to grow eyelashes, making them longer, fuller and darker.

While LATISSE™ may fulfill the wish for more prominent eyelashes, Allergan also wanted to shine the spotlight on the Make-A-Wish Foundation and provide support for granting the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. The LATISSE™ Wishes campaign started with an initial donation of $500,000 from Allergan to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Consumers are encouraged to help double this amount to $1 million by registering their support at http://www.latisse.com/ to help grant the wishes of courageous children in their communities. Between now and December 31, 2009, Allergan will donate $5 for each new visitor who registers online, up to an additional $500,000.

Actress Brooke Shields and beauty expert to the stars Anastasia Soare will lead the campaign to generate $1 million to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The campaign components include the online charitable drive to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation and a series of LATISSE™ Wishes events scheduled across the country where consumers will be able to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation while learning about how LATISSE™ works and where they can receive a complimentary consultation and treatment.

His wish was to meet his hero, Lance Armstrong. He added, “He (Armstrong) survived cancer and won the Tour de France seven times. He gave me the courage that I could beat cancer.”

Jedediah’s wish came true in November 2007.

While at the park he loved making friends with Donald Duck and Pluto. The four days at the Disney Theme Park was a welcomed break from treatment for James and his family. On his return trip, the pilot surprised him with a tour of the cockpit.

Leah was completely surprised when her wish for a miniature horse was granted. Returning from her regular Saturday morning trip to the grocery store, Leah was met by family and friends and Frank, the family’s newest addition.

Frank pulled Leah in her cart in the Christmas Parade in Mariposa.

Leah is a 10 year old who has been diagnosed with Ganglioglioma.
